チェンマイ滞在中、この日は宿泊していたCrew Hotelから歩いて旧市街を散策しました。
チェンマイの街は徒歩でも観光しやすく、歩いているだけで歴史ある寺院やかわいいカフェ、屋台などが次々と現れます。
目的地へ向かう途中にも新しい発見がたくさんあり、2歳の娘と一緒でも無理なく楽しめる一日になりました。
(During our stay in Chiang Mai, we spent a relaxing day exploring the Old City on foot, starting from Crew Hotel.Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, we enjoyed wandering through the historic streets, visiting beautiful temples, tasting local desserts, and ending the day with lunch at a shopping mall.Even with our two-year-old daughter, it was a comfortable and memorable day filled with wonderful discoveries.)
🚶 Crew Hotelからターペー門までお散歩
この日はチェンマイのシンボルでもあるターペー門を目指して出発。
朝から天気も良く、街歩きには最高の日でした。
歩いていると、途中には大小さまざまな寺院があります。
有名なお寺だけではなく、街角にある小さな寺院にもそれぞれ違った魅力があり、
「ちょっと寄ってみようか。」
そんな気持ちで立ち寄れるのも、徒歩観光ならでは。
車では気付かない景色を楽しみながら、のんびり歩いていきます。
(Walking from Crew Hotel to Tha Phae Gate
Our day began with a pleasant walk from Crew Hotel to Tha Phae Gate, one of Chiang Mai’s most famous landmarks.The streets were easy to walk, and every corner seemed to reveal something new.Along the way, we passed several beautiful temples.Rather than sticking strictly to our itinerary, we decided to stop whenever a temple caught our attention.That’s one of the best things about exploring Chiang Mai on foot—you never know what you’ll discover just around the corner.)
🛕 街中に点在する美しい寺院
立ち寄った寺院には、黄金に輝く仏像や細かな装飾が施された建物があり、とても神聖な雰囲気。
鮮やかな花々がお供えされ、静かな空気が流れています。
娘ちゃんも小さな手を合わせてお参り。
親の真似をしながら一生懸命手を合わせる姿に、思わず笑顔になりました。
日本のお寺とはまた違った雰囲気を味わえるのも、タイ旅行の魅力ですね。
(Discovering Beautiful Temples Along the Way
Chiang Mai’s Old City is home to countless Buddhist temples, each with its own unique atmosphere.The temples we visited featured magnificent golden Buddha statues, colorful decorations, and peaceful courtyards.The quiet surroundings made it easy to slow down and appreciate the beauty of Thai culture.Our daughter copied the adults by putting her hands together in prayer, which was a heartwarming moment for us.Watching her naturally experience a different culture made this visit even more special.)
🌸 ターペー門周辺は子どもも楽しめる憩いの場所
寺院を巡ったあとは、ターペー門へ。
チェンマイを代表する観光スポットですが、門の周辺は広々とした公園のようになっていて、多くの人が思い思いに過ごしています。
私たちが訪れたのはタイの暑い季節。
木々からは色鮮やかな花が落ち、地面にはたくさんの花びらが広がっていました。
娘ちゃんは花びらを見つけるたびに、
「きれい！」
と言いながら夢中で拾い集めます。
その様子を見ているだけでも癒されました。
公園には鳩もたくさんいて、娘ちゃんは歩き回る鳩を追いかけたり、飛び立つ姿を眺めたりと大興奮。
観光名所でありながら、地元の人もくつろぐ穏やかな空間でした。
(Relaxing Around Tha Phae Gate
After visiting several temples, we finally reached Tha Phae Gate.The area around the gate feels more like a spacious public park than a typical tourist attraction.When we visited, Thailand was in its hot season.Colorful flowers had fallen from the trees, covering the ground like a natural carpet.Our daughter happily picked up the flowers one by one, smiling every time she found another pretty blossom.There were also plenty of pigeons walking around the square.She loved watching them, chasing after them, and laughing whenever they suddenly flew away.It was such a peaceful place where both locals and tourists could simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere.)
🥭 マンゴーライスとイチゴアイスでひと休み
歩き回って少し疲れたので、途中でカフェへ。
私はタイに来たら絶対に食べたかったマンゴースティッキーライスを注文しました。
完熟マンゴーの甘さと、ココナッツミルクがかかったもち米の組み合わせは想像以上のおいしさ。
日本ではなかなか味わえない、本場ならではのスイーツでした。
娘ちゃんは大好きなイチゴアイス。
暑い中で食べる冷たいアイスは格別だったようで、嬉しそうに食べていました。
(A Sweet Break with Mango Sticky Rice
After walking for a while, we stopped for a dessert break.I ordered one of Thailand’s most famous desserts—Mango Sticky Rice.The combination of sweet ripe mango, sticky rice, and rich coconut milk was absolutely delicious.It was even better than I had imagined.Our daughter chose strawberry ice cream, which quickly disappeared in the warm weather.Seeing her enjoy every bite made our little break even more enjoyable.)

🗿 三人王像で記念撮影
続いて訪れたのは、チェンマイを代表する三人王像。
チェンマイ建都にゆかりのある三人の王を称えた記念碑で、多くの観光客が訪れる人気スポットです。
私たちも家族で記念撮影。
娘ちゃんは持ち歩いていたお気に入りのくまちゃんと一緒にポーズ。
旅の思い出がまた一つ増えました。
(Visiting the Three Kings Monument
Next, we visited the Three Kings Monument, one of Chiang Mai’s best-known historical landmarks.The monument honors the three kings who played an important role in founding the city.The open square surrounding the monument made it an ideal place to take family photos.Our daughter happily posed with her favorite teddy bear, creating another wonderful memory from our trip.)
🛝 寺院で見つけたブランコに大喜び
歩き疲れて少し休憩しようと立ち寄った寺院。
境内を歩いていると、なんとかわいらしい赤いブランコを発見しました。
娘ちゃんは目を輝かせながら、
「のるー！」
と大喜び。
少しの時間でしたが、ブランコで遊んでリフレッシュ。
観光だけでは飽きてしまう小さな子どもにとって、こういう遊べる場所があるのは本当にありがたいですね。
大人も木陰で休憩でき、ゆったりとした時間を過ごせました。
(Finding a Swing at a Temple
Later in the afternoon, we stopped at another temple to take a short break.To our surprise, we found a swing inside the temple grounds.Our daughter was thrilled.After spending the morning sightseeing, playing on the swing gave her a chance to relax and recharge.Sometimes the simplest moments become the most memorable parts of a family vacation.)
🛍 ショッピングモールで昼食
旧市街散策を楽しんだあとは、ショッピングモール「セントラルフェスティバル・チェンマイ（Central Festival Chiangmai）」へ向かいました。
ショッピングモール内には広いフードコートがあり、タイ料理を中心にさまざまなお店が並んでいます。
どのお店もおいしそうで、何を食べようか迷ってしまうほどです。
ただ、お昼どきはかなり混雑します。
席数はありますが、人気の時間帯はすぐに埋まってしまうため、昼食時間を少しずらすか、先に席を確保してから順番に料理を買いに行くのがおすすめです。
私たちは現地の方と相席になりましたが、それも海外旅行ならではの良い思い出。
地元の人たちの日常を間近で感じることができました。
フードコートでは、それぞれが食べたい料理を自由に選びます。
家族みんなが違う料理を選んでも、一緒に食事ができるのがフードコートの魅力。
子ども向けのメニューも見つけやすく、家族連れでも利用しやすいと感じました。
(Lunch at Central Festival Chiangmai
After exploring the Old City, we headed to Central Festival Chiangmai, one of the city’s largest shopping malls.Inside the mall is a spacious food court featuring a wide variety of restaurants, with Thai cuisine being the main attraction.There were so many delicious options that choosing what to eat wasn’t easy.If you plan to visit around lunchtime, be prepared for large crowds.Although the food court has plenty of seating, it fills up quickly during peak hours.We recommend arriving a little before or after the lunch rush, or securing a table before taking turns ordering food.During our visit, we ended up sharing a table with local residents.It turned into a wonderful opportunity to experience everyday life in Chiang Mai.One of the best things about the food court is that everyone can choose exactly what they want to eat.Whether you’re traveling with family or friends, it’s an easy and enjoyable place to enjoy a meal together.)
🍯 デザートは甘くて絶品のロティ
食後のお楽しみは、タイの人気スイーツロティ。
焼きたての生地は外が香ばしく、中はもちもち。
たっぷりとかかった甘いソースとの相性も抜群です。
「これはもう一枚食べたい！」
と思ってしまうほどのおいしさでした。
チェンマイ旅行で食べたスイーツの中でも、特に印象に残る一品です。
(Ending the Day with Delicious Roti
No meal in Thailand feels complete without dessert.This time, we treated ourselves to freshly made Roti, one of Thailand’s most popular street desserts.The outside was perfectly crispy, while the inside remained soft and chewy.Combined with sweet condensed milk, it was simply irresistible.It was so delicious that we almost ordered another one.Among all the desserts we enjoyed in Chiang Mai, this was definitely one of our favorites.)
🌿 まとめ
チェンマイ旧市街は、寺院を巡るだけではなく、街歩きそのものが楽しい場所でした。
Crew Hotelからターペー門まで歩くだけでも、美しい寺院や歴史ある建物、季節の花々、かわいい鳩たちなど、たくさんの景色に出会えます。
マンゴースティッキーライスやロティなどのタイスイーツを味わい、三人王像で記念写真を撮り、寺院でブランコ遊びを楽しみ、最後はセントラルフェスティバル・チェンマイでランチとショッピングを楽しみ、デザートには甘くて絶品のロティを堪能。
有名な観光地だけを巡るのではなく、途中で気になった場所へ立ち寄ったり、ゆっくり休憩したり。
そんな”寄り道”こそが、チェンマイらしい旅の魅力なのかもしれません。
2歳の娘と一緒でも無理なく楽しめた、思い出いっぱいの街歩きになりました。

Exploring Chiang Mai’s Old City was much more than visiting famous attractions.Walking from Crew Hotel to Tha Phae Gate allowed us to discover beautiful temples, peaceful streets, colorful flowers, and friendly pigeons along the way.We enjoyed authentic Thai desserts, visited the historic Three Kings Monument, found a swing inside a temple, and finished the day with lunch and shopping at Central Festival Chiangmai.Sometimes, the most memorable travel experiences aren’t the ones you carefully plan.They’re the unexpected little moments—stopping at a quiet temple, watching your child collect fallen flowers, sharing a table with local people, or enjoying a simple dessert together.For our family, this day perfectly captured the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of Chiang Mai, making it one of the highlights of our Thailand adventure.)
