チェンマイに到着してCrew Hotelへチェックインした後は、ホテル近くで夕食を探しました。
大通りから少し入った場所を歩いていると、ローカルな雰囲気のお店を発見。
Khum Hmon Somm というお店で、チェンマイ名物のカオソーイが人気のお店です。
おしゃれなレストランというよりも、地元の人や観光客が気軽に立ち寄る食堂といった雰囲気。到着したばかりのチェンマイで「まずは本場の料理を食べたい！」という気分にぴったりでした。
(After checking in at Crew Hotel, we went out to find a place for dinner nearby.Just a short walk from the hotel, we came across a local restaurant called Khum Hmon Somm, a popular spot known for serving one of Chiang Mai’s most famous dishes: Khao Soi.Rather than a fancy restaurant, it had a cozy local atmosphere where both residents and travelers could enjoy authentic Northern Thai food. It felt like the perfect place for our first meal in Chiang Mai.)

看板にはカオソーイ（カレーラーメン）やパッタイなどの人気メニューが並んでいました。
「せっかくチェンマイに来たんだから、やっぱりカオソーイだよね」
と家族で話しながら入店しました。
（The signboard displayed several popular Thai dishes, including Khao Soi and Pad Thai.”Since we’re in Chiang Mai, we have to try Khao Soi!”That was our unanimous family decision before stepping inside.)
料理が来るまでのひととき
注文を済ませて料理を待ちます。
オープンエアの店内は風通しが良く、チェンマイらしいゆったりした空気が流れていました。
娘は少しお腹が空いていたようで、料理が来る方向をじっと見つめています。
旅先ではこうした何気ない待ち時間も思い出になりますね。

The open-air dining area allowed a pleasant breeze to flow through, creating a very laid-back Chiang Mai vibe.

チェンマイ名物カオソーイを実食
今回注文したのは、
- カオソーイ（Khao Soi）：上
- パッタイ（Pad Thai）：左
- スープ麺：右
です。
お目当てだったカオソーイは、ココナッツミルク入りのカレースープに麺が入った北タイの名物料理。
スープの中には柔らかい麺が入り、その上にはカリカリに揚げた麺がたっぷりとのっています。
初めて食べましたが、まろやかなカレー風味でとても食べやすく、日本人にも人気がある理由が分かりました。
パッタイも甘酸っぱい味付けで食べやすく、子連れでもシェアしやすい一品でした。

For dinner, we ordered:

The dish we were most excited to try was Khao Soi, Chiang Mai’s signature noodle dish.It features a rich coconut curry broth with soft egg noodles, topped with crispy fried noodles.It was our first time trying it, and we immediately understood why it’s so popular. The curry flavor was rich yet mild, making it very approachable even for first-time visitors to Thailand.The Pad Thai was equally delicious, with a sweet and tangy flavor that was easy for the whole family to enjoy.)
2歳娘のお気に入りはカリカリ麺
今回一番印象に残ったのは娘の反応でした。
カオソーイの上にのっていたカリカリ麺を見つけると、
「パリパリ！」
と大喜び。
普段は食べムラがあることもありますが、この日は夢中になって食べていました。
大人はスープを楽しみ、娘はカリカリ麺を楽しむ。
同じ料理を家族それぞれの楽しみ方で味わえたのが嬉しかったです。
(Our Daughter’s Favorite Part: The Crispy Noodles
The highlight of the meal was definitely our daughter’s reaction.As soon as she noticed the crispy noodles on top of the Khao Soi, she became excited.”Crispy! Crispy!”.she exclaimed while happily munching away.Like many toddlers, she sometimes has picky eating days, but on this occasion she couldn’t stop eating the crunchy noodles.While the adults enjoyed the flavorful curry broth, our daughter focused on the crispy topping.It was wonderful that we could all enjoy the same dish in our own way.)
タイミルクティーでひと休み
食後にはタイミルクティーを注文。
鮮やかなオレンジ色が特徴で、日本ではなかなか見かけない見た目です。
甘くて濃厚な味わいで、暑いチェンマイの気候によく合います。
娘も興味津々で眺めていました。
旅先で家族とゆっくり過ごす時間は、観光地を巡るのとはまた違った楽しさがありますね。

After the meal, we ordered a glass of Thai Milk Tea.Its bright orange color immediately caught our attention.Sweet, creamy, and refreshing, it was the perfect drink for Chiang Mai’s warm weather.Our daughter was also fascinated by its vibrant appearance and couldn’t stop looking at it.Traveling with family isn’t just about sightseeing—it’s also about sharing simple moments like these together.)
